Our infant program is designed for children 6 weeks to 1 year old. The State of Maine requires a 1:4 staff to child ratio. Our infant primary caregiver centers her day around each infants schedule. This care, while meeting each child’s basic need for food, diapering, and naps goes beyond further. Our infant teacher cuddles, rocks, exercises, reads, talks to, smiles, hugs, and directs all possible attention to each child, so that their time at Back To Basics is safe, loving, fun, and engaging.
Every moment of your child's day offers opportunities for learning. The teacher catches these moments and helps each infant understand the world around them. Our activities stimulate gross motor development and assist language growth. We show each baby that his/her needs will be met. We want each child to know that we live in a truly wonderful world with all sorts of pleasant experiences. Infants need to view the world from many different angles. This includes: floor time (which is tummy and back time), rolling, sitting, crawling, stroller rides, outdoor play, pulling themselves up, climbing, and rocking, so various perspectives are gained.
While being supportive to the infants, our teachers look to the parents as the best resource for working with the children. The information the parents provide us helps us to better serve the children. We encourage all parents to tell us how to the children slept the night before, what they like and dislike, or even other concerns that we should watch for. We will provide all parents with a daily chart regarding their child's day. This daily chart describes the times of day, and other important details relating to their feedings (bottle/food,) naps, diaper changes, and overall disposition |
